Oliver Mc Ternan (Conflict Resolution and Mediation Expert)

Presentation Title: The Global Consequences of the War on Gaza.

Oliver James McTernan was born in Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim in 1947. The family emigrated to London in 1957 where he lives today. He worked as a priest in inner London between 1972 and 2000. He is the Director and co-founder of Forward Thinking – a UK based organization that works to resolve conflict through an inclusive dialogue and front-line mediation.

He was a Visiting Fellow of the Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs, Harvard University, 2000-2003, where he researched the failure of peace processes and the relationship between religion and conflict. His book ‘Violence in God’s Name’ explores the roots of violence within each of the major faith traditions and the role of religion in today’s conflicts. He broadcasts regularly on radio and television.
