Michael Harding, born in 1953 in Cavan, Ireland, is a celebrated Irish novelist, memoirist, and playwright. He has authored three novels—Priest (1986), The Trouble with Sarah Gullion (1988), and Bird in the Snow (2008)—noted for their rich Irish storytelling. His eight memoirs, including the award-winning Staring at Lakes (2013), offer humorous and poignant reflections on rural life.
A regular Irish Times columnist, he captures the essence of Ireland’s heartland. His plays, such as Strawboys and The Tinker’s Curse, have been performed at the Abbey Theatre. Harding’s work has earned accolades, including a Stewart Parker Award and an Irish Book Award.
